The Niagara Parks School of Horticulture has only 38 students enrolled each year. It’s a unique program in Canada that allows students to get a very thorough education in anything related to horticulture but, at the same time, hold a job with the Niagara Parks and maintain the grounds and gardens as part of their studies.
On April 1, several students were honoured with scholarships for their efforts during the school year. Our club, for the first time, presented four students with leadership awards as selected by the school administrators and the Alumni Association. We used District Designated Funds to match our donation, so each of the students was able to get $1400 Canadian. ($1000 USD) in recognition of their efforts.
